A born Caymanian, Captain Orneil combines his vast knowledge of local history, culture and marine life with over 20 years of sailing experience to offer his guests a private sailing experience like no other.
Having grown up in a seafaring family, sailing is in his blood and in his heart.
He has captained and crewed various boats at home and abroad; working for a time in the British Virgin Islands and also for a season on the Red Sea. The boats have included an 80′ square rigger galleon, a 60′ sailing catamaran, a 27′ power boat and many others. He has been the Captain of Splendour in the Wind since 2014, when the boat first came to Grand Cayman. Orneil and his wife founded Blue Sky Sailing in 2018, when they purchased the sailboat; allowing him to realize a life-long dream.
When Orneil’s not sailing, or spending time with his family, he’s also the Captain of the Las Tortugas Pirates; a local pirate group that takes part in the annual Cayman Islands Pirate’s Week Festival.

A full-on Caribbean sailing experience, in half the time. Your half-day sail includes 2 snorkel stops in the North Sound where you feed and swim with the stingrays at the original Stingray City.
Then visit the Captain’s secret spot, “Orneil’s Aquarium”, which you won’t find on any map, but it’s teeming with local marine life.
Half-Day Sails:
Morning charters from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm Afternoon charters from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Custom charters available upon request.
Make this the highlight of your visit to the Cayman Islands. Your full-day sail includes the 2 snorkel stops included in the half-day charter, plus an additional stop at Starfish Point, along with options for lunch.
